CHEMICAL SAFETY TRAINING

This course provides you with an understanding of how to locate, understand, and practice safe handling instructions while using sanitation chemicals that are commonly found in laboratory animal research and food processing facilities. The course will educate users of sanitation chemicals on sound chemical safety practices and therefore reduce the risk of a chemical accident from ever occurring.

Course Objectives:

After completing this course, you will be able to explain the:

• Importance of reading and using chemical labels, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and chemical ID tags
• Need for using personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Importance of equipment inspection, safety, and location of eyewash / safety shower stations
• Safe handling, storage, and use of sanitation chemicals commonly found in laboratory animal research and food processing facilities
• Accident prevention measures you should employ
• Immediate steps to be taken in case of a chemical accident
