Effective October 1, 2002 a new insurance statute took effect. In this class we'll look at the cases that have affected the enactment of the new statute that enacted stiffer penalties for use of unauthorized entities to provide insurance coverage. In addition, we'll look at the statute as it was prior to the change, subsequent to the change, the penalties involved, the Florida MEWA statutes, and other plans that can be sold under ERISA guidelines that could get you in trouble if you're not careful.
